May 31st a child arrived
And proceeding to alter all our lives
Four foot tall and 30 pounds that kid
stood out from all the others around
Doctors wondered and the nurses cried
But Dad was so happy he could touch the sky
Mom brought him home later that week
And their friends came over to take a peek
They ooed and aahed and asked his name
For this child would surely come to fame
8 feet tall, that's the truth
110 pounds in his birthday suit
Sure put a strain on his mommas lap

Now move ahead a couple of years
A whole lotta laughs, and also some tears
Taught at home by a saint of a mother
His education was like no other
Our lives would change when a cruel trick
Introduced our hero to his first drumstick
Pots and pans sure took a beatin'
And he tapped his knife when he
shoulda been eatin'
But his first drumset just to play around
Became the birthplace of a brand new sound
Heavy on the kick
Light on the tom
Beat time on the snare, and you got the song
Ride the high-hat with a little snap

Now red and khaki is Ryan's thing
He took the Be-Line bus to Normandale
Freshman comp is where he failed
Then a shining beauty fell into his lap
It was a lady known as Amy Kaps
Things didn't change at Dakota Tech
Well he couldn't stop thinking of the girl he met
But their love progressed or so they say
And that's the reason why we're here today
When true love knocks open the door
