I'm a folk rock, new country - even really a poprock singer songwriter who has been compared to artists from Sheryl Crow to Kate Bush to Jobi Mitchell.
Laura Ranieri is a folkrock, hotAC, new country singer songwriter who has been bringing her powerful voice and intelligent lyrics to the Toronto scene for about three years. She has just launched her first full length album "Southbound" woven through with themes of travel - south of 49 - and even south of Yonge and St. Clair, Toronto. She has played full houses in Toronto and sparked interest in her work during a few pilgramages to Nashville. Her first EP in 2002 - A Little Of That saw singles like "Easier that Way" and "Simon" topping the charts at MP3.com. Check her out at www.lauraranieri.com

Lyrics
Verse 1 Sipping Sangria, College and Clinton Trendy people – I sit alone and listen all day Streetcars ring – a busker is rapping Summer wind -- blows my paper napkin away Build This is my time for thinking’ Just letting living sink in Hey… Chorus I’m sitting in the sunshine Free and easy on the sidelines Life is breezy in the sunshine And it’s all right, and I’m fine In the sunshine Oh yah… Verse 2 Man kills lover in Monday’s headlines I’ll have another glass of Spanish red wine– to stay Latin waiter clears my plate Says – “I’m off later – let’s make a date” No way. Build This is my time for thinking’ Just letting living sink in And hey… Chorus Bridge I know – that it may rain Tomorrow – I’ll get my feet wet again But I’m not quite ready, my hands are not steady I’ve been soaked to the bone and I’m so happy alone… Chorus repeat
