Story behind the song
I composed this song following September 11th. I wanted to write a song to unleash not only the feelings of anger and confusion I was experiencing following 9/11, but also the knowledge that through adversity, people would find hope in their unity. The song is more about that unity between ALL people which brings encouragement and hope through perseverance and working together.
Lyrics
searching for some meaning at a meaningless time / so many questions on our minds / what have we come to? / where do we go? / the only hope we know for sure is… / chorus: we are not alone / when nations come together we are not alone / our hearts are joined as one / we are not alone / God’s love endures forever / through the trials and the storms / we are not alone / we’ve got to hold on to what we believe / more now than ever before / the hope within us will not fade away / we’ll rise to victory once more, ‘cause… / chorus / nothing can take away our will to carry on / voices united, we are strong / not death, nor hate, nor fear / nor anything at all / can separate us ‘cause we know that … / chorus / through the trials and the storms / we will rise up once more / there’s one thing we can be sure / we are not alone
