Story behind the song
I have been down... it seems like our family's been losin all we used to have... but there are somethings that make me feel better... so i wrote it down... its the difference between the rich and the poor... :) the truth to life... The symbolism as i say it - hodge life is just the way we look at em... -Its all about the way you look at things... luck is crucial, born to be with golden sheiks -You have to be lucky to be born rich... fur coats dangling on ur living room... -More money, more visitors with fur coats... a glass of champagne would take two hours away... -wasting time on unimportant things... the world was right below your patio -money takes you on top of the world... and you stood there watching ants going by... -you look down on others who are less fortunate... and once in a while you smiled to put a fake one... to please the guests that you have never known... -you learned to show a fake side to please the people you dont know... and at times you said that this was the life... this is the life that you have -im not like that... i dont think that's the life i would like to take... chorus is as is... have you tried running barefoot under the sun -have you tried running away from all troubles... sink ur feet under the warm shady waters... -relax once in a while... hear the laugh of kids on camp outs on summers... -the simple things that make you smile... try to feed a hungry cat out of streets... -help strangers... (it always makes me smile...) and watch it follow you around tryin to thank you... -helping means new friends... skipping lines on sidewalks, with a loved one... -im sure you've tried this alone when you were kids... i suggest you try it with a loved one... its fun... this is the life that i have... -my life is simple... but i have all i need... all the life in a child... -the life in a child is the most precious gift you'll ever see... i swear to god... i miss my childhood... all the life thats been gone -time passing by... funny how it goes so fast doesnt it? living a life of your own... -its a symbol... living is loving... i am so proud of the way i lived... yes i may have been the dumbest kid in senior high... i may have dropped out of college to work and help out the family... at times i thought i never had a choice... but now, it seems like God has given me too much choices... i hope some people could see that being poor doesnt mean we are never happy... if you have all you need... you could say you are rich dont yah think? thank you for reading this...
