Same as You

the dystopian feeling currently pervading across the globe (any colour, any creed, any shirt you wear..) is driven by people the same as you and me, only they've managed to bankroll billions, so focus for them is blurred when it comes to 'you and me'

some people get by with a little understanding, some people get by with a whole lot more..
think back to when Jim Steinman started writing songs for Meatloaf and how he'd go on to be one of the best producers in the business (creating this classic with TSOM) and how the world seemed less complicated and more focussed on serious issues as opposed to Tik Tok or Instagram and if we don't think we've lost something we're crazy...but if we think it's coming back anytime soon then we are complete fools...ok, Christmas salutations from myself, Jill, Louie the wonder dog and Cha-Cha the kitty kat, everyone else has left us now, lol - empty nesters...haha! Michael Keaton in a scene from 'Birdman' is here due to his brilliant acting abilities...dig Mike and he's a supreme talent for sure! can you still recall in the juke box hall when the music played and the world spun round to a brand new sound in those far off days.. in their blue suede shoes they would scream and shout as they sang the blues, let it all hang out.. rock and roll...

Story behind the song
we wanted to do an end of year EP of synth pop (inspired by David's interest in the genre and his brilliant pieces which we've really enjoyed) we set about writing 3 new tracks and I did a nu mix on a track we've had for some time, 'end game'. The lyrics are set in a dystopian future...hope not, wish not and pray not...as children of the 70's we lived out our thirties in what was undoubtedly the most peaceful, sane period of the past 100 years (the nineties) - yes, for sure if you lived in Rwanda or Yugoslavia you'd disagree but as a whole and compared to other periods in time it was a really nice carefree era of contentment...
Lyrics
Pushing back cause I couldn’t see you But what was I supposed to do Cause I couldn’t see you They talk They walk They look at you differently They sleep They eat Well they look at you exceptionally Well they fight They cry They ignite into the sky And they scream And they dream In colours I haven’t seen Pushing back cause I couldn’t see you What was I supposed to do They hate They mate They get out of it easily They drink They shrink They don’t act reasonably They scream They dream In colours I haven’t seen They dance It’s no chance They do it all so dramatically They wanted to live like Kings Until they sold everything And now they don’t Pushing back cause I couldn’t see you, see you What was I supposed to do I couldn’t see you They talk They walk They drink They shrink...what was I supposed to do Pushing back cause I couldn’t see you What was I supposed to do What was I supposed to do...
