folk rock disguised as synth pop.
synthpop folk rock
Folk music for postmoderns
I am what you might call a musical generalist. I listen to pretty much everything and I compose in pretty much any style, though I concentrate mainly on folk, folk-rock, rock, synth-pop, alternative, comedy, musical theatre, jazz, new-age, film music, avant-garde, and the occasional lullaby (why sing your kid to sleep with "Rock-a-bye Baby" when you can can create something personalized?). I've done most of my professional (i.e. paid) work in the theatre, where I've been musical director for dozens of productions. I was also musical director of Mental Floss, the legendary Miami improv group, for over 500 performances; I recently did a stint with Laughing Gas, which rose from the ashes of Mental Floss 11 years ago to become the longest running improv group in South Florida. As a singer-songwriter, I've concentrated most of my energy on my signature style of synth-driven folk-rock (sort of Indigo Girls meets Vangelis). I'm also something of a minor celebrity in the world of Filk (folk music for science fiction fans), where I am proud to be the object of the worlds smallest international fan base.

Lyrics
Take a good emotion Stretch it 'round a life The edges may wear thin But the fit is always right Take an inspiration Let it run wild The mother of invention Was once herself a child Make your own decisions You'll have to in a pinch And never ask permission To grow another inch Listen to opinions But listen to your heart The work is never finished But you've gotta let it start Take it from me -- it's a long, hard road But we will pick up speed where the rest of them have slowed And we've already been where most will never go Letters from the edge Poems to yourself Collected in a binder Forgotten on the shelf Places you remember Names you can't recall Emotional graffiti That decorates your wall And I don't know your reasons There's no way for me to know But in a hundred passing seasons There's room to grow The nature of the challenge: To fill the empty space Just make the first connection And the rest will fall in place Take an inspiration Hold it to the light Find your destination With the gift of second sight Understand that the going gets tough Always getting better But never good enough The only way Is to never give up Letters from the edge Memos from the past Unforeseen reminders That nothing ever lasts Places undiscovered Names as yet unknown The natural progression Of living on your own And I don't know your reasons There's no way for me to know But in a hundred passing seasons There's room to grow And I don't know your reasons There's no way for me to know But in a hundred passing seasons There's room to grow And I don't know... And I don't know... And I don't know...
