Story behind the song
It had been a few days since I had written a song, and I wanted to try a different than usual chord variation. I had recently completed a 80-minute CD of Psalms, but there are more than 100 that I haven't completed. I have recorded music for Psalm 1 and Psalm 2, so I thought I'd take a look at Psalm 3. After that I just listened to the voice in my head and copied it down. My wife was going to be going out for a walk with a friend in a couple of hours, so I thought that would be a good time to get on Garage Band. I finished the song in about an hour, and here you have it.
Lyrics
1 LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.
2 Many are they who say of me, There is no help for him in God.Selah
3 But You, O LORD, are a shield to me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.
4 I cried to the LORD with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. Selah
5 I laid down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.
7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone;
You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people.
