With the release of his new single "Stef Step Away", Geeztown brings a new feel to a classic genre. Lush with piano hooks, catchy breaks, and addicting vocal melodies, the song reaches into an almost 90's alternative rock aesthetic.
Alt-Pop from Minneapolis, MN.
Story behind the song
"It’s about a girl named Stef. I cared a lot about her. I felt like we were on the same path, both pursuing music in one way or another. I’m a Christian, and I found out she used to go to my church. But I saw her making some bad decisions and allowing the people around her to influence her in a negative way. So the song is me telling her to step away from those bad decisions and that there is still hope, it’s not too late." explains songwriter Aaron Giese.
Lyrics
Stef Step Away by Aaron Giese ©2015
You used to sit in church on sunday
Your parents raised you right
But now you’re on the fence cause you read a book
and your friends think that’s alright
See, college doesn’t help
It just changes your mind
And college kids don’t care
They’re just trying to waste your time
Stef step away from sin and death
You’re far too precious for this world
Just because you lost your way
Don’t mean that you’re lost forever
Stef step away from sin and death
You’re far too precious for this world
Just because you lost your way
Don’t mean that you’re lost forever
Don’t let me fool you I’m not perfect
My past was hard to change
I’ve done the things you think look fun
And all it brought to me was pain
See, sin is fun at first
It tries to trick us every day
And when the pleasure’s gone
You’re nothing but a slave
Stef step away from sin and death
You’re far too precious for this world
Just because you lost your way
Don’t mean that you’re lost forever
Stef step away from sin and death
You’re far too precious for this world
Just because you lost your way
Don’t mean that you’re lost forever
(instrumental)
Stef step away from sin and death
You’re far too precious for this world
Just because you lost your way
Don’t mean that you’re lost forever
