This is a great song by John Mayall, from his very first solo album, The Blues Alone.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
This song, along with 'Out Of Reach' (which featured Peter Green) is one of my all time favourite John Mayall blues songs. Here is a lesson in 'less is more'. No flash guitar solo or anything un-necessary with the moody organ either. There is however a short Peter Green inspired guitar break at the end of the song that isn't on John's original. A Major Snagg addition. Those of you in the know, will soon appreciate that the song is in Dm . . . undoubtedly the 'saddest of all keys' ! :)
Lyrics
"Broken Wings" by John Mayall Somebody broke your wings little bird, you can't fly Somebody hurt you bad, beaten down and left to cry And the price you have to pay, you'll be paying in years of your life Somebody is to blame can't you see I'm feeling sad Somebody got away, and it makes me feel so bad And the price you have to pay, you'll be paying in years of your life Somebody's got to help you, I believe I love you so Somebody's gonna touch you, I don't believe I'll let you go And the love I have to give, I'll be giving in years of my life And the love I have to give I'll be giving in years of my life

Top notch stuff David, sweet vintage keys and rich bass (such depth and punch, gotta be that Rick!) with spot on vox....such a killer tune, wonderful choice, dynamite execution!

Who wouldn't like a John Mayall song? So many great names crossed his path and worked with him. Superb job, love the way you have adapted your style...I had to listen for a long time to be sure it was you. Very impressed by your versatility.

Great job on covering this cool blues tune, David. All you need now is a black "blues beret" and you can attend any blues jam in the U.S. and fit right in. ;)

Very nice production. Great bass. Very nice vocals. Love that organ! The guitar work is awesome - the Yamaha sounds great. One of my favorites from you David. Peter Green, Blues Guitar God.

Great blues presence David, the organ rolling along with your soulful vocals giving the whole tune a sweet flowing movement that just cruises. Great solos with the organ and the SA1000 :) Nice one!

Excellent production David! Great vocal presence - fits the song's mood well. Very cool organs - and the Yamaha does the job just as pretty as a Gibson ;)
