Story behind the song
The musical Life 101 is about a group of college students preparing to graduate. The character Nicole, who sing this song, is a tough woman who is almost to tough to let anyone in. When she does fall for someone and lets him in, she gets pregnant only to find out the father of her child is gay. In an act of confusion and desperation and to gain control of her life, she aborts her child.
