Children's voices echo on my porch's wind chimes. And if the shadows are right I see them there sometimes. A broken old wood swing barely hangs by one chain. Some toys left in the yard long rusted from the rain. Oh they'll never know, how I miss them so. The day old pair of pants that needed a knee patch. Buying old hats at yard sales then sewing mittens to match. The winter day games of indoor hide and seek. Knowing all their needs when they were too young to speak. Oh they'll never see, what they mean to me. Time loosened the threads and faded our family quilt. And it tore down, bit by bit the good life we had built.
