Something Like This (live@Songwriter's Challenge)
Honest music about life...in all stages.
Story behind the song
Every three months, a "challenge" is issued to Phoenix area songwriters. We are given a title and 30 days to write a song to go with the title! One month later, we all convene and listen to each other's versions of the song. This is the song I wrote for the 15th Songwriter's Challenge called "Something Like This"
Lyrics
Vs. 1
Great big ambitions
My mama told me, "Dream big"
She said it's the only way
While washing the dishes
My Dad knew his little girl could do all she wanted to
A Mama of my own now
With two little lives to grow, and mold, and love, and tickle, so
When Prince Charming comes home, he'll see I forgot to turn the dishwasher on again
Ch.
Who dreamt that the beautiful life
Would look something like this
Would go something like this, yeah yeah
Who knew that the fairy tale end
Would be starting again, building it all up again
Vs. 2
Great big ambitions
To be a respected girl by one or maybe two or three
Not seeking an honor
Just a good reference from the Super Holy One
And hoping my life brings encouragement to another younger dumber kind of me
To find her peace sooner
And go through life sans regrets courtesy of mistakes by me
Ch.
Who dreamt that the beautiful life
Would look something like this
Would go something like this, yeah yeah
Who knew that the fairy tale end
Would be starting again, building it all up again
Br.
Mirror, mirror, mirror, tell me where did it all go?
(Where did it all go?) I do not know
Mirror, mirror, mirror, tell me where do I even start?
With great big ambitions
With great big ambitions
Ch.
Who dreamt that the beautiful life
Would look something like this
Would go something like this, yeah yeah
Who knew that the fairy tale end
Would be starting again, building it all up again
