Richard "Cool-as-Hell" Sinclair and Michael "Punslinger" Honsinger have been making spontaneously original music together since soon after they first met in 1985. After a jam or two, the Punslinger lent Richard his Fostex X-15 4-track cassette recorder; Richard impressed him so much by writing the song "Forwards in Time" that the Punman joined forces and the dynamic duo soon morphed into Quantum Mechanix by combining musical gear, ideas, and jokes; and taking cassette 4-tracks to their very limits... and beyond! The first few years were extremely experimental! Combining Rock, Pop, Electronica and Beyond together, they blazed their own trail through the underground of the Olympia Underground music scene (unseen by K records, Steve Fiske, Bakini Kill, Marcy Playground, the Melvins, Nirvana, Bratmobile and many others). They should have called themselves Secret Identity! Afraid to share their music with anyone, they languished in obscurity which fueled even more inspired songs of worth! They have released one album: Quantum Mechanix '88 (11 years after Talking Heads '77) There were only 50 cassettes produced. They later joined forces with drummer Patrick Padovan (who played at their first 2 jams) and transformed into Art Official... recently they have been known to call themselves Triple Dog Dare.

Story behind the song
Just thinking of poor Santa and his Little Elves straining under the added weight of our growing population.
Lyrics
Santa's little workshop isn't big enough More Boys and Girls are born and the can't keep up His little Elves keep filling, the shelves He keeps on expanding but it never seems to end He calls on Jesus: his carpenter friend his little Elves have filled the new shelves they keep on working 'til they bury themselves Wind and snow blow across the Pole Santa's little Elves are now getting cold The walls aren't finished---there's just a big hole Santa's little Elves work way beyond 12 Again they work through Dawn they are very weary Elves They fall asleep on their feet And fall deep, deep into Dream They dream of a world tha's only so big And they dream that they don't give a fig Now they're getting back on track they're wide awake When will they be finished and just what will it take? Santa's not aware that they no longer care They feel too over-worked and the pay's no longer fair They don't want to make the gifts for anyone at all Let them fill each others' socks on the wall Santa doesn't know that they all plan to go Somewhere where it's warm and far from any snow This year there is far too many gifts His Rheindeer are on strike and Santa needs a lift He asks Mrs. Claus if she'd accept the job She informs him that her car's still stuck in the shop Good thing Santa has a few more tricks up his sleeves He can somehow get somewhere before he even leaves He will come and go before you even know You won't even hear his jolly HO-HO-HO...
