Just a rough copy for now. This is my newest song to date (3/1/04) and is one of new favorites.
Just a small town boy with an acoustic guitar and an alternative and metal background singing about relationships, love, life, politics, emotions, etc. Hard to

Story behind the song
I wrote the verse and chorus parts with about a month and a half between them. I definately had Goo Goo Dolls-ish sound in mind when I wrote it. The lyrics are about being naive and sheltered going into the real world and expected to know how to deal with everything. The title, "Fall" is not just because of the chorus part, but because of the time when everyone gets hit by everything in the world (usually college) and something always happens that changes that person. Whether it be alcohol, sexually, drug, or something else related; it happens to everyone (maybe not on the same scale). I wrote about a girl cause it seems to me that it's always the girls who get hit hardest.
Lyrics
You can step into the world, wash your worries out, But you're trapped inside a box you built for yourself
And you don't know what to do when the world knocks you down, But you try to pretend that everything's sound
So take this bitter pill, remember how that felt, You can't live life with just the cards you've been dealt
And you cannot tell a lie, even if we would all die, with you
(chorus) Fall! On your knees, Cause the world won't stop to make you pleased
Fall! On your knees, Not everyone will listen to you...now
So admit you're in a shell, still believe you never were, But you swear you don't know anything about the real world
And everyone is waiting for a sheltered little girl, For everyone to take advantage of now
(chorus) Fall! On your knees, Cause this pedistal you put yourself will break
Fall! On your knees, This world outside will change you
(chorus) Fall! On your knees, Accepting who you've come to be
Fall! On your knees, And you know that life's never easy
Fall! On your knees, Believe you can make something of this
Fall! On your knees, Everything gets better.
