This is a song about becoming a parent. It is also a promise that I made to my only child on the day that she was born.

Story behind the song
I became a father rather late in life. My daughter was born on a Thanksgiving morning. I held her in my arms for hours that day in the hospital. When they finally chased me out, I went home and wrote this song.
Lyrics
Go on sleeping little baby
In these arms completely mine
If I could slow these hours passing
I'd push away the world outside
And I'd hold you, ever hold you,
ever hold you close to me.
And if you ever, need me ever,
need me, here I'll be.
Run along my tiny treasure
There's birds and butterflies to see
Through your eyes the years I'll measure
Till you come running home to me
And I'll hold you, ever hold you,
ever hold you close to me.
And if you ever, need me ever,
need me, here I'll be.
Turn around and look behind
All the memories in your mind
Kites and kittens chasing after
The sounds of childish laughter
The music of the mornings left behind
Off you'll walk through summer's meadows
Frills and flowers in your hair
To find a love who'll walk beside you
Your hand I'll give. Your love I'll share.
And I'd hold you, ever hold you,
ever hold you close to me.
And if you ever, need me ever,
need me, here I'll be.
