Lyrics
I'll Have To Wait For Heaven
© 2010
When you left for heaven
you were only seven
I remember what you looked like then
Such a beautiful boy
funny, full of joy
thought your road would have no end
when a body is sick
heart and soul leave quick
memories are all they leave behind
pictures smile from the wall
but I can't feel you at all
I want to hold you one more time
(chorus)
I wish I was allowed
to reach into the clouds
and lay my hand upon your face
your smile will start a glow
to awaken my soul
and ease my heart that aches
If I could only see you again
but I'll have to wait for heaven
Five years have flown
and you have grown
with the looks of a little man
I imagine the change
what times rearranged
a mom will do what she can
It doesn't seem fair
me here and you there
On the day that we first met
to see you once more
grown-up and mature
but I haven't given up hope yet
(chorus)
I wish I was allowed
to reach into the clouds
and lay my hand upon your face
your smile will start a glow
to awaken my soul
and ease my heart that aches
If I could only see you again
but I'll have to wait for heaven
