Story behind the song
"A lot more twang !" The lapsteel (non-pedal) & resonator/dobro guitar feature in my attempt at a bit of rockin' country. I have always loved the excitement of hillbilly boogie which I have tried to capture here. I am multitracked on all instruments & vocals. "A dobro guitar to slide it all along..." The dobro (lap) is tuned to G-B-D-G-B-D. "Where a six string lapsteel fixes ev'rythang..." The lapsteel is tuned to standard hillbilly or c6th tuning; C-E-G-A-C-E. I turned the reverb up to put a smile on ya face for 2 minutes !. (All boogie songs go for 2 minutes don't they ?) Words & music by Peter Hall...and all hillbilly/country/blues/rock/bluegrass muso's ! Luv day slidey sound !. "We all need a lot more twang" Dr. Winston O'Boogie
Lyrics
Twang I turned on the radio the other day The DJ told us what he was about to play. He said I needed rap and I need some blues I thought to myself “I’ll give you the news”. “This is what I want to hear people sang” Spoken “a little less pop and a lot more twang” Chorus Give me a hillbilly and a country song With a dobro guitar to slide it all along Where a six string lapsteel fixes everythang Spoken “a little less pop and a lot more twang” I’ll tell ya something that I have found There’s nothing in this world like dat slidey sound. And pickin’ ‘n’ singin’ with dat high harmony I can tell by your face you are startin’ to see. That the best sound you ever hear people sang is Spoken “a little less pop and a lot more twang” Words & music by Peter Hall 5/11/2010. © Red Zone Music
