Story behind the song
A song inspired by an experience from many years ago, and a lesson on why you should always seize the moment. I've never regretted anything I've said but there's plenty I've regretted not saying - and this was one of them.
Lyrics
A tiny island in the sun It’s ‘85 and we’re both so young That fateful night she wanted me I was so damn cool and said let’s see When we met you never said (you never said) You never told me you’re the one (yes you’re the one) You’ve come to rescue me from dead (rescue me) And get my broken heart begun (my broken heart) My Broken Heart (that you can mend) My Broken Heart (that you can mend) My Broken Heart (that you can mend) My Broken Heart (that you can mend) She smiled at me, and I just left I was in love but I never said Me & him we were good friends I knew I’d lose her in the end When we met you never said (you never said) You never told me you’re the one (yes you’re the one) You’ve come to rescue me from dead (rescue me) And get my broken heart begun (my broken heart) My Broken Heart (that you can mend) My Broken Heart (that you can mend) My Broken Heart (that you can mend) My Broken Heart (that you can mend) You came, you saw, you smiled at me (smiled at me) You’ve fixed my broken heart for free (you set me free) When we met you never said (you never said) You never told me you’re the one (yes you’re the one) You’ve come to rescue me from dead (rescue me) And get my broken heart begun (and set me free) Broken Heart (that you can mend) Broken Heart (that you can mend) Broken Heart (that you can mend) Broken Heart (that you can mend)
