Story behind the song
This was inspired by Wallace and Gromit. In one film they decide to take a trip to the moon to get some cheese. They build their rocket in the basement and take off from the garden. Well, imagine a whole street load of such people...
Lyrics
Verse
The folks you meet on Nasa Street are not like you and me
Astro physicists, top notch pedigree
They don't go to shopping malls in fancy foreign cars
They're busy making rocket ships and flying off to stars
Verse
Mr Plews at forty two is busy in his shed
Making wings and fusion rings all worked out in his head
His rocket's made from cardboard, held in place with glue
When it's dry he'll take a fly around a moon or two
Chorus
Nasa Street
See them out on Sundays
Nasa Street
Having so much fun
Polishing their rockets, checking all their charts
Lighting up their fuses and flying to the stars
Verse
The Warners on the corner are back from holiday
Astronauts in swimming shorts, they toured the Milky Way
Suitcase full of souvenirs, moon dust on their shoes
Showing off their sun tans that glow a lovely blue
Chorus
Verse
The Wilson boys love asteroids and craters that they make
There's hell to pay 'cause yesterday they dropped one in the lake
They're soaking up the puddles, mopping up the drips
And rounding up the aliens that crawled out of the pit
Chorus
