Like We're Three
This is the valley I call my home
Though it ain't nothing but a flat road
And the trees I swing upon
Are street lights, broken down.
And the copper telephone wires
Buried beneath the ground
Are roots of a tree, the tallest tree
That I ever found.
The tallest tree I ever found.
Roll the valley down. Roll it down.
And I've got this
Chasm in my memory
Can't remember after I was three
So I paint the valley around me.
And I trace the photograph
Around my little head
Like nothing happened between,
Between here and there.
Come with me to my valley of smoke and fear
Where dreams appear
And you can be what you want to be
With me.
You can paint around yourself
Like I paint around myself
You can be
With me in the valley
Like we are only three.
