Story behind the song
The story behind Mario Night is about our brother Jim, and Randy or better known as Uncle Tooly. Jimmy and Randy were very close throughout Randy's life. It wasn't uncommon to see Jim out at Tooly's playing Mario Brothers, eating a pizza, and listening to Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr., and many other country legends. Many of these nights Jimmy would be at Tooly's it was a work night. Jim worked for his Grandfather Harry, so Jim screwed off quite a bit. Many of those mornings after their Mario Nights, Harry would be calling Jimmy on the phone wondering why it is 9:00 in the morning, and yet he still isnt at work. This was a good question to be asked, but like the phone when Harry was calling, it never got answered. Usually Jim and Tooly would jump in the Tooly mobile, and head down to Plymouth and get their pizza, Worthers, and whatever else they got, went back to Tooly's and fired up the Johnny Cash, and played Mario Brothers. Uncle Tooly was married to his wife Brenda. Brenda wasn't around much when Jim was over, because she was either at work, or at our parents house, which made two very happy people. And I don't mean our parents. Jim and Randy did a lot together actually, including fishing, hunting, riding around just listening to classic country, or whatever other sh** they could get into. Brenda not being around much was a good thing. If she was and only knew what those two got into she probably would have sh** . In the Summer Jim would go over and mow Tooly's lawn for him, and Tooly would let him as he stayed inside where it was cool, watching The Flintstones, because he was a nice guy like that. But Jimmy would do it just to help him out, and Tooly always appreciated it. Well on November 26, 2002 our uncle Tooly passed away. So my brother and I did two Tribute to Tooly CD's, and this song just had to be on one of them. My brother Jim came to my brother Tom's and recorded on the spot an unwritten script of him talking, as if he was talking to Tooly. I later used the studio, and a computer program (audacity), and pitched down the voice, and did an unwritten Tooly part. So in fun, and in memory this is our parody of Diamond Rios "Bubba Hyde", "Mario Night".
