I'm a New Yorker and I've been a fan of western / folk-rock / rock music all my life. I write all the music and lyrics and play all the instruments. Usually I get friends to do the singing for me. It's oddball material. All recordings are done at home using Cakewalk Sonar.
Story behind the song
Kids don't have it easy, we watch them go from pre-school through college and in school we find the cliques: the very popular and then all those "others". Here's a song about a big sister that is trying to comfort her little sister because she is being picked on at school - she feels that she is awkward, ugly and alone. She wants her to understand that by being strong and true to herself she IS beautiful and ultimately everything is going to turn out just fine.
