Singer-Songwriter with a Folkish vein of music
Born James Chapman Polhemus in Stuttgart Germany and brought up in the deep south (now residing in Hoover, AL), Chapmans insights into the development of a Folk Songwriter are unique. Whether it's the journey of a human trotting across the prairie, the epic life of a tree, the loneliness one needs to combat garden gnomes or a view of war through the eyes of a 4 year old boy; Chapman's songs are honest and simple. Three things stand out when he describes his music 1. The Inspiration for the Song: "A writer is not necessarily the one that shouts 'Hear Me!' (that's the performer talking) , but the one that listens and seems to whisper 'I heard you'." 2. Responsibility for the Song: "Just write what haunts you. If the song is good, the genre doesn't matter! Choosing among frames for artwork has never been my passion, that's for the talented producers & cover artists" 3. Reason for Writing the Song: "After having written my first song at the age of 12, I have finally found so many decades later the exact reasons I write songs. I write to remember. Once I have learned either a complex idea that I think is important to answer back to life, or a humorous perspective I want to recall to bring some levity to the insanity, I make a song out of it... selfish as it may seem I do it for me so this is why I share it and welcome everyone to the therapy session I call a 'Live Performance'. I write so the things I've learned become personal mantras instead of ending up lost like so many raindrops in an ocean. And, just maybe they'll shed a little light on what is to be expected from this seemingly insignificant species called human"... Feel free to record and/or rearrange these songs yourself....the more interpretations the merrier. Just like the shareware days of old, try to remember the creator if the creation brings you good fortune

Story behind the song
An old man has an unorthodox way of fishing but, he believed you should let good things come to you.
Lyrics
Take a Little Stone words and music by Chapman James LeRoy had a table at the Barbour Farmer's Mart On it lay the freshest fish in town He'd been there 50 years when I first met him Come rain or shine he always could be found LeRoy launched his rowboat every morning With his tackle, 5 smooth stones and little more His grandpa taught him years ago to anchor off the beach And every half hour throw a rock up near the shore He held each hook He closed his eyes He saw a face He let it fly After three good hours he'd have those fish to mart by noon And sell the whole allotment to the crowd Folks called his catch the Best Bass South of Heaven As he wrapped it up he'd tell you why and how... [CHOR] I caught this fish for you That's what I love to do It's sure to feed the body and the spirit too My grandpa used to say You gotta make some waves Just take a little stone And cast it to the foam Then good things come to you Let good things come to you The only days he didn't fish the waters Were the Sundays when he went to thank the Lord He'd save a mess of bream from yester morning Then hand them to the preacher at the door [CHOR] [Bridge]It's been too many years since LeRoy left us One day his boat & him took off for good 'Neath an old cane pole hung by his market table Written on a plaque where once he stood It Said...He held each hook He closed his eyes He saw a face He let it fly Some mornings while I walk along the shoreline I watch the rippled river dance and swirl When I hear a splash upon the water I imagine LeRoy fishing for the world [1/2 CHOR] I caught this fish for you That's what I love to do Just take a little stone And cast it to the foam Then good things come to you Let good things come to you copyright 2010 Polhemusic
