Artist picture
Melodic/progressive/alternative rock with an epic quality to it.
What is a name but a word or phrase given to a thing to represent it and to provide others with a first impression? Such is Smile and Nod. It’s another name for another Austin rock band. But a name serves this simple purpose only until it is given a new meaning, a new essence a life and world of its own. And now the moment for first impressions is past. No longer is Smile and Nod merely a phrase. It is the gateway to a brilliant new world filled with powerful songs that move with unprecedented passion throughout the land, heart and soul. Each is led with climactic vocals backed with smooth, tasteful drums. The bass is lush and the guitar is sweetly melodic. Such music would touch the emotions of an audience of all ages. They’ll crave more. This is a brilliant new world indeed, and Smile and Nod has introduced it. The music is melodic/progressive/alternative rock with an epic quality to it. It’s inspired by the hopes and fears, and the triumphs and tragedies of the members of Smile and Nod. Together they strive to create music much larger than them, each contributing an intimate piece of themselves to every song. When Smile and Nod performs its music music that is held so close to its heart a passionate gift is being given to all within earshot.

Lyrics
My bed screams in agony, Trying to put an end to my turns whipping against its back. The stars converse so casually, Gossiping about me, about the rest that I lack. No longer can I confidently tell Whether my eyes are open or closed. I see the same image in either instance, I see the image of my young self quietly posed. A photograph of me... Only a thought, not quite a memory... No one ever took this picture, Yet it still lingers where I can clearly see it, Portraying me as an adolescent, As innocent as inexperience would permit; When my skin was as smooth as the wind, And when I sincerely didn't understand reality, When I didn't understand its harshness, Before my years forced me to take responsibility. Indeed those were the days - When problems were based around things of true insignificance... But that is forever in the same place, The past, Just beyond arm's length, And I continue to be drenched In the exhausting sweat of the present day. The present is here to stay... Oh, how I long for an escape - A slumber quiet and still. I wish to rest my tired eyes, My tired mind, My bombarded will. Rest now. Rest well. You're tired as your thoughts can clearly tell. But how can I? My bed continues to scream. Soon it will be silenced. It will allow you to dream. But the stars still chatter; Their noise fills my heavy head. Forget about them and escape the world; Retreat beneath your bedspread. Go to bed.
