I would classify this really as electronic experimental, but the closest genre soundclick has is experimental sounds, and that just doesn't sound right as there is some melody too. So all encompassing Electronica genre it is.
electronica techno dance electronic breakbeat soundscape
Electronic solo project, running the gamut from evolving rhythmic soundscapes to vocally infused pop songs.
Particle Junkie is Flynn Gleason. In 1995, being a bit of a nerd, he fell in love with synthesizers and drum machines. He joined his friend Adam LaBarge to embark on a project called Fulcrum Clearance 12'0" (or fc120). Using software, they forged their own cut and paste style of music based in synthetic soundscapes and experimental noise, inspired summarily by a few Warp Records artists and a rather healthy dose of industrial. Over the years the tools got better, and so did the music, but they never saw fit to release it to more than friends, always focused on creating the next great song rather than promotion or money. After a good run, Adam moved onto other ventures, and Flynn continued composing under the name Facade. This went on for the next few years, as he branched out from his dark influences, exploring melodies, sound design, rhythm, and vocals, striving to deliver funk while challenging the notion that electronic music is cold and unemotional. Never one to stick to a genre, the only way to somewhat accurately phrase what you may hear in an average Particle Junkie song is a good beat and a collage of synthesizers morphing and blipping in a surreal pseudo-organic fashion, sometimes with vocals, robotic or otherwise. Eventually Flynn decided the name Facade was "a little too pretentious or something," and changed his name to Particle Junkie, which is far less pretentious by his estimation. Which brings us to today, and the release of his debut album, "Hot'n'Nerdy". The album ranges from long evolving danceable soundscapes to humorous pop songs about nerds and salmon teriyaki. If particulate matter has you hooked, here's an excuse to celebrate. Head on over to www.cdbaby.com/cd/particlejunkie to check that out. Also on itunes, last.fm, napster, rhapsody, amazon, etc etc

Story behind the song
Playin around in Reason5+Record1.5. After all these years of the combinator's existence, I finally got around to putting one together with all the knobs and buttons hooked up, and this track started as a demonstration track for the combinator. All the SFX and metallic type drums are courtesy of the combinator. If it's not holding a melody, or it's rhythmic but metallic or glassy, it's probably one of the 3 instances of the combinator, dubbed "FMsocialclub"
