Story behind the song
Um...this is a funny one. Since im a bassist, alot of my melodies are from a bass perspective. So one day I was practicing on my bass to an old Rick James bass line from the song "Give It To Me Baby". As I was practicing the bass line, a jazz melody came into my head, so as it is with me, I put together a R&B drum line to go with the bass line, and then I transposed a few notes to make the bassline mine, and then took it into the studio to add some keyboard, trumpet and sax arrangements, and this is the result of the resulting jam session.
