Story behind the song
The title "Contact Approach" is the term used by aircraft on an IFR flight plan. It is a pilot-initiated approach which must be authorized by air traffic control. This kind of approach may be used if the pilot anticipates that he is able to operate clear of clouds with at least one mile of visibility and be able to maintain visual reference with the surface. The airport must be reporting at least 1 mile of visibility.
