Lake Fork Verne and his banjo. Original country and Americana songs. Songs of yesteryear, growing up during the great depression 1930's and the way things are
Just me and my banjo...writing and singing about how things used to be long ago in the 30;s and 40's and how those experiences affect today. I started out wanting to get on record these stories and songs for my grandchildren; but after doing it for a while, others have expresses interest so we are recording and putting them out there.

Lyrics
Scatter My Ashes Copyrighted by: Verne Garrison July 27, 2010 Valley Park Mo Banjo tuned E, Capo 3, Key of G Scatter My Ashes Scatter my ashes from Garrison Bridge To swimming holes and catfish holes, amid The tree and blackberry-lined banks The rolling lands, I roamed as a kid These remains of the Lake Fork old-timer Once barefoot on black, cool new plowed ground Are but a reminder of my happy youth Skipping to the beat of Bob White's sound High summer skies, white puffed clouds Green glass insulators on telephone poles Yellow wild parsnip, multi colored holly hocks That lined the clay banked ditches of our gravel roads Yeah, the energy of youth, now all spent And the memories that are really mostly good So scatter the ashes to the waters below And I'll return to Lake Fork, as I should And I'll return to old Lake Fork, as I should
