Story behind the song
I was struggling with personal vices and exorcised them by writing the entire song one late night. I recorded it the following morning. The intro is inspired by the Romantic influences of Chopin and Beethoven's Pathetique. This song really stretches my range -- the high of the bridge, and the low alto dubs at the end.
Lyrics
There are demons at midnight Hide away in the frozen chambers They are trying to make right Of my decisions and of my anger Now I fall down inside Away from the soul that chides You know better, You know better But it's just a little bit Just a little bit more They wrap you up in greed It's like a tight unyielding pressure Your angels come to plead Your worth is not by your measure Let it go Keep your pride The top inch to your height You know better, you know better But it's just a little bit more All by yourself is where you'll see your reflection Distance and solace, you seek your redemption Ahh..... There are demons at midnight, demons at midnight
