Story behind the song
dan fogelberg is without question my greatest inspiration as a songwriter. he may be better known as a guitarist, but he was a fantastic piano player as well. i also loved his method of overdubbing his own harmonies, and i've used that tactic liberally on this song.
Lyrics
home free may you be end of your journey you never knew me but i knew you the songs you left us a living legacy you chose the heart's path and saw it through and when the wind starts turning cold i hear your voice and i am not alone a life was taken much too soon now i'm wishing on the moon hear your songs play in my heart i try not to fall apart home free may you be into the mystery i hope you could see how high you flew the lives that you touched the souls who loved you are calling your name i wish you knew the years they will keep pressing on we'll play your music, then you aren't really gone a life was taken much too soon now i'm wishing on the moon hear your songs play in my heart i try not to fall apart your life was taken much too soon we're all wishing on the moon hear your songs play in our hearts so we will not fall apart home free may you be...
