Story behind the song
this here's tom's baby
This song was written in a Quanatative Methods class on a dusky Friday morn. I wanted to write some new stuff because I figured if I had lyrics maybe Tim could write music around it. So I pondered for a while and after rejecting numerous songs about Ben's many STD's I decided to address the question my friends continually asked me: why was I so depressed?
So I just wrote this song about how I spend most of my days imagining a life devoid of problems and full of purpose and the subsequent results when I wake up.
If you listen real hard the last lyric is "we rye." Ever hear of Holden Caufield? Yea. Has nothing to do with that...confusing ain't it?
Lyrics
So you want to test how thick is my skin?
I'll open up and leave you lieing in
Then you'll see why I twist every word
Every word that you miss
So scream...out your affection
Cry...at your reflection
Alone...you try by yourself
To you...I offer my help
Happiness is what you crave
But it's not what you deserve
'Cause it's all made in your head
Sooner than later, it will end
So scream...out your affection
Cry...at your reflection
Alone...you try by yourself
To you...I offer my help
Words dispend...
Words dispend...
Words dispend...
and it all crumbles down...
So scream...out your affection
Cry...at your reflection
Alone...you die by yourself
To you...I offer myself
So scream out your affection...
So cry...
We weap...
We rye...
