Story behind the song
This song was inspired by the recent passing of my wifes father, who's light will forever shine in our hearts.
Lyrics
THE LIGHT The snow was crunching with each step and time stood still for him. As the cold struck bone he quietly wept, drained from all the remembering. He was lost and lonely on his walk that night, where he always walked with Dad. Something drew him towards the light that was shining, shining just ahead. He’d seen this light for many years’ shine through that colored glass. This time was different through his tears, it was brighter than in the past. Since his Dads’ passing left him so alone, there was darkness and such sorrow. It seemed that God was drawing him home and to a brighter tomorrow. Approaching the light that drew him near his heart could feel the joy. Then a sound like angels caught his ear as stars shone all around. Upon entering the church came memories of Dad and being here in the past. This was the light God led him to see now he was home, home at last. (chorus) There were people singing and praising, loving and caring. Everyone was talking and sharing the joy that they’ve found. The light was brighter than sunshine and not a single bulb burning. It was shining from God’s people spreading love all around. (bridge) His tears of sorrow turned to joy that night. As he was saved by Jesus and His Holy light (repeat chorus ) © Karl Hecky 2003
