Story behind the song
Attempt to sing blues - first time for public display. Maybe a work in progress - "could sing it better".

My black cat lies a' sleepin'
tail twitching in the sun.
My black cat lies a sleepin'
till the world of daylight's done.
Then the panther wakes and stirs,
stands, stretches, flexes claws.
It's darkness and it's time now,
and his inner tiger roars.
A kitten when I first knew him,
playfully chasing a ball of string.
I should have enjoyed those moments more,
although that's just a grievin'thing.
But later blind and dizzy, arthritis had taken it's toll.
Staggering round in circles,
and banging his head on the wall.
My black cat lies a sleepin'
but this time he'll not wake.
His spirits moved to a better place,
that#s the only comfort I can take.
We had to reach a decision,
to help him on his way.
I hope his spirit's happy now
and been released to happily play.
