Acoustic flavored rock with pop/blues/folk/metal influences and four-part vocal harmonies.
In February 2002, Todd South (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Lenny Supera (electric lead guitar, vocals) and Jim “Cap” Stapp (drums, percussion, vocals) met via the Internet, exchanged original MP3’s, and eventually got together for an informal jam session. In less than two weeks, the energy and creative vibe from that first meeting led to the formation of Burning Peace and the beginning of an amazing journey. Before a month had passed, Burning Peace began performing on various local stages, experimenting with arrangements during live shows and working hard to add something new & exciting to the growing indie music scene. By October 2002, their all-original material and energetic live show began to draw the attention of music fans and the independent press. Although the majority of Burning Peace songs begin with veteran composer Todd South, the varied songwriting, recording, and live performance experiences of each band member combine to form a unique and cohesive whole. As South notes, “I’ve performed some of these songs as a solo artist, but it’s clear that none are really finished until the rest of the band add their unique talents & insight. I never dreamed I’d be part of a band this good! The fact that both Lenny and Cap are longtime songwriters is the real secret to the Burning Peace sound.” The first Burning Peace album (Over The Water, released June 2003) is both a snapshot of where the band has been and a glimpse of things to come. After performing over 100 shows (ranging from house concerts & coffeehouses to 1,000 seat amphitheaters & special event stages) Burning Peace took several leaps forward in September 2003 with the addition of Joe Warmelink (bass guitar, vocals). The band’s popular live show was kicked into overdrive with the advent of four part harmonies, Joe’s melodic riffs, Lenny’s mind-bending leads, Cap’s acrobatic rhythms, and Todd’s soaring vocals. Based in Reno, Nevada, Burning Peace has hosted the extremely popular open mic night at Walden’s Coffeehouse since June 2002 (earning the Reno News & Review Reader’s Choice award for “Best Open Mic” in 2002 and 2003).

Story behind the song
Inspired by true events with a girlfriend in the '90s. Wrote the lyrics while riding on a bus. Song lay dormant and unrecorded (and rarely performed) until this Burning Peace arrangement came together in Summer 2003.
Lyrics
She called me just to tell me, She thought of me last night, Through the phone I hear, oh, against my ear, Her voice is small and quiet... Just a simple phone call doesn't mean much after all, She was probably just too high, So why should I care, why should I really care, That she can't seem to get it right... ****** She's got two hearts, she's got too much, She's got two loves for Lisa... And now she's too broke, good thing you don't buy hope, Yeah, she's still got two loves for Lisa... ****** I don't know the names, to her it's just a game, She loves to roll the dice, Her love is like a bruise, just something she can use, Good thing it heals away in time... ****** ****** She called me just to tell me, She thought of me last night, Through the phone I hear, oh, against my ear, Her voice is small and quiet... Just a simple phone call doesn't mean much after all, She was probably just too high, So why should I care, why should I really care, That she can't seem to get it right... ****** ****** Copyright (c) 1996, Todd C.
