Story behind the song
She left heaven because it was suffocating-- she wanted to learn love and to be human, and in spite of his pain, God smiled on her. But although she became strong and gained happiness, she worried that God would forget her on earth after seeing her joy. She wants God to stop supporting her so kindly and to selfishly reach out to take her back. Unable to express those weak thoughts, she cautiously continues to smile.
The use of "bonds" instead of the original "chains" in the first verse changes the meaning a bit. Rather than being simply restricting, her wings are also a tether that ties her to the ones she loves the most. However painful, they've very important to her.
