Story behind the song
When I was with Rose, I wrote her a song called "I Swear" which was my love song for her basically, I also wrote the song "Getting Better" which turned out to be very ironic. See the song says women should leave men if they hit them, and I hit Rose in her leg one time. I was drunk for like the first time in my life when it happened, also Rose totally made it into a bigger deal than it was. Rose is the one who is never there. You're Never There Line in the Chorus ___________________________________________________________ "I just wanted you to remember the song "I Swear" you're never there." ___________________________________________________________ I wrote this song about Rose. In the song I call her Daisy instead of Rose. Its an inside joke basically between me and my cousin Steve, we both got so sick of saying her name in my therapy talks with him that we started calling her Daisy. The first time he said it, I almost died laughing.
Lyrics
If I could say what it was that made me crazy..... Maybe I could just say it was the way God made me Lately this hasn't been a safe scene for Jenny Tyson and Halie And even if, I live with Steve Smith Believe this, you ain't seen this boy at demolition yet The pigs say he's missing But he's in Texas Then switched to Mesa When the cops chase Ya got to face your facts Bradford is a maniac Stayed away from coke, smack and crack But look how I slip on the cracks When I react to the situation I'm dealt When people see the pain that I've felt its like.... "How could there be this much heat, and he not melt?" Well you got to have a heart made of ice Get your wrist sliced twice Jump out of a car trying to roll the dice Turn your back on Christ And come back with prayers that aren't nice You got a sweet spirit Your voice I love to hear it Your body I want to be near it Your anger I fear it I worry you cleat it Attention you always share it Competition you tear it My love I swear it But no matter what I did I was just a kid I never said I didn't do any of the things that I did I just wanted you to be there I just wanted you to remember the song "I swear" You're never there Look what you did.. How could you do this to me You're never there.....
