The future seems to have always been controlled by what we know and what we have created as a society. That very same future will soon be in the hands of a new generation. A generation that has been raised on technology and is aware of how things can change in the blink of an eye. This generation will cry out with a vengeance like no other. This will be the generation for whom V.O.C. speaks. Born in January of 2003, V.O.C., a five piece melodic metalcore band out of Decatur Illinois, brings forward hard hitting guitar riffs mixed with searing guitar solos, seamless bass lines, high energy percussion, and a melodic, yet sometimes chaotic, lyrical assault. With different musical backgrounds, Nick Bushong - Vocals, Ian Matheson - Guitar, Brandon Koehler - Guitar, Jeremy Sills - Bass, and Seth Foster - Drums, combine the styles of today’s modern rock vocals and heavy metal screams, with death metal picking, to generate a new sound unlike any other. Also unlike most heavy metal bands today, V.O.C. tries to stay away from profane lyrics in their songs with the exception of a couple. “I don’t feel I need to use every four letter word in the dictionary to get my point across,” says singer Nick Bushong, “and I do get my point across.” Since beginning to play shows in only July of 2003, this young band has quickly made it’s way up the ladder to stand tall next to some of the areas more well established acts. Victims Of Chaos has already recorded and released their first cd titled "Alone In Unity" in October of 2003 which elicited an enthusiastic response from its legions of fans. Since then, their first single "Nothing" has made its way to Springfield WQLZ's (active radio) Bandemonium Top 5 Countdown numerous times along with their new single "The One", which will be featured on their upcoming release set for early 2005, and was on the countdown for a record 19 weeks straight with 6 #1 appearances. Also, V.O.C. has been very privileged in some of the opportunities that they have had given to them. V.O.C. was asked to play in the 2004 Mayday Metalfest on May 1st and 2nd of Lafayette Indiana. Also on the bill for this show will be 30 other local bands from around the region and some national head-liners such as Mastodon and M.O.D. V.O.C. also recently played the Canopy Club in Champaign which has had many national bands grace its stage, and the Hard Rock Cafe in St Louis. Recently, V.O.C. was asked to be interviewed for an upcoming book entitled “Headbanger” which will also feature interviews for artists such as Dave Chavarri of Ill Nino, New band Endo, Geoff Tate of Queensryche, Alex Skolnick formerly of Testament, Blaine Cartwrite of Nashville Pussy, and a bucket load of other musicians. “I feel, and we all feel very grateful for the opportunities that we have been given thus far,” says bassist Jeremy Sills. V.O.C. has also teamed up with local rockers Honest Pod and Lidlifter to form the alliance to be known as Left Handed Entertainment. Forget what came before. The future has begun...
