Story behind the song
It was hard not to be touched by the bombing of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. This song was written in memory of those who lost their lives, and in honor of those who continue to fight for our freedom. My Time is the result of my own internal conflicts and feelings resulting from that day. The sadness, the anger, and any number of other emotions all rolled up into one ultimate realization... 'If there was ever a time, this might be mine.'
Lyrics
There comes a time in a young man's life when he Might be asked to stand and fight Well, this might be my time. For those that might lay dying beneath the falling sky For those that keep on searching through the night Old glory, flying high Calling me from a smoke filled sky. Will you be my guide Standing strong and proud you'll lead me, A beacon in the night Guiding me towards freedom, shining bright There comes a time in a young girls life when she's Asked to teach us wrong from right. We'll this might be my time For those who gather 'round me seeking shelter in the night For those who can't imagine what its like Old Glory, flying high Comfort me from a smoke filled sky Will you be my guide? Standing strong and proud you'll lead me, A beacon in the night. Guiding me towards freedom, shining birght You can not silence freedoms cry We will find the strength, together, we will take a stand, we will rise up and we will fight Old Glory flying high Comfort me. Calling me. Oh, Freedom.
