Story behind the song
Memories of dragging Main in my little hometown, and all the stuff that happens when you drag Main. The little I grew up in was less than 2,000 population, but you could still find something to do any night. Some nights you just had to look harder than others.
Lyrics
Summer Nights In A Little Town Summer sixty-nine/Little Kansas town We spent every night/Cruisin' up and down... Main Street Just a bunch of guys/Hangin' with the crowd Windows open wide/We got a little loud... sometimes Lift: There wasn't much to do Besides checkin' out girls and actin' like fools ... oooh Chorus: Summer nights in a little town Perfecting the art of just hangin' around Windin' it up just to get unwou-wou-wound Summer nights in a little town Summer nights in a little town Teresa Andress/Sweet seventeen She was a waitress/At the Dairy Queen... so fine Every guy in town/Wishin' she was his Once I took her out/Asked her for a kiss... turned down (repeat lift and chorus) bridge: (slowly) I drove down Main a week ago I'd been away too long The Sinclair sign, the Five and Dime And the Dairy Queen were gone So I closed my eyes And my mind went back in time I was seventeen again On a small town summer night...when (repeat lift and chorus)
