"You can't judge a book by it's cover." That is one of the most hackneyed clichÃ's out there, right? But most times, it certainly is accurate, and in the case of Blanco, the Silent Celebâpre-judgment is her secret weapon. I came across this talented young lady at a showcase that I did for Dream Hygh Entertainment (www.myspace.com/dreamhygh). When I first saw her, I thought nothing of it. I was in my own zone and trying to prep for my performance. But when this artist took the stageâI was like WHOA!!!! That night she performed the debut single off of her new MixTape Diamond Inda Rough called "OoWwEe." I was so impressed that I gave her the props she deserved after the show and then followed her on twitter (@thesilentceleb). We became fast friends and as I got to know her, I knew that her story was one that Xi had to cover. Our staff is made up of all types, genders, nationalities and sexual orientations. And we are all different, funky, funâbut best of all we are all tolerable, loving and HUMAN! The music industry is not as cumbayah though. Most artists must flaunt their sexual prowess to gain fans, recognition and salesâand it MUST be to the opposite sex. The DL rumors are rampant, the blogs and cyberspace full of suspected homosexuals. But what makes Blanco so dopeâwell, I'll let her tell you.
