Catchy tune sets the stage for this Harry S. Truman concept album. Lyrics are directly from a Truman "State of the Union" address.

Story behind the song
Lyrics for the versus are directly from one of Truman's "State of the Union" addresses. I eq'd the vocal on the verses with a lot of trebel in an attempt to approximate the sound of of an old radio broadcast - as if you are hearing Truman speak to Congress all those years ago on low-fi radio. The bass line must have taken 3 or 4 hours to splice together and re-draw, etc. Crazy in retrospect because it really doesn't sound *that* special! Perhaps I got a little obsessed with getting it *just* the way I wanted it! ;-)
Lyrics
We are now in this year of 1950 nearing the midpoint of the 20th Century... The first half of this century will be known as the most turbulent and eventful period in recorded history... THE BUCK STOPS HERE We are now in this year of 1950 nearing the midpoint of the 20th Century. Not one but two world shattering wars have proved that no corner of the earth can isolate itself from the affairs of mankind. THE BUCK STOPS HERE We must make our decisions in the conviction that all men are created equal, that they are equally entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and that the duty of government is to serve these ends. The moral imperative to do justice. The divine command to love one another. At every point in history these ideals have served to correct our failures. THE BUCK STOPS HERE
