"Concerned" was written about what happens when an inlet is closed to accommodate one residence. "Dear Mistletoe" was written about a 'Civil War Ship" that was transformed to carry passengers and supplies after the war to settle land along the gulf coast of Florida. "Chipped Away" is about how we will learn to set a balance in what we do , and how it will impact future generations.
Lyrics
Concerned
Beautiful beach
just out of reach
gated and locked
our way is blocked
right to walk
the water's edge
is being squelched
by a few privileged
monuments of concrete and glass
no match for nature
when they closed the pass
turtle nests wash away
no place left
for eggs to lay
stagnant lagoon
eroding beach
corrective measures
not out of reach
concerned
we watch and wait
hope against hope
it's not too late

Dear Mistletoe
Sail on dear Mistletoe
with Civil War behind
carrying dreamers
to the coast
with visions on their minds
loaded down
with citrus fruits
guavas and supplies
where once was
just a wilderness
would watch a village rise
mullet nets are cast
along the pristine shore
bringing in a bounty
to be salt dried
then to store
sold each for a penny
to Cubans who were there
guiding them to homesteads
with fresh water
they could share
clean water good for drinking
and citrus they could trade
for cattle that were grazing
in a canopy of shade
sail on dear Mistletoe
with Civil War behind
carrying dreamers
to the coast
with visions on their minds

Chipped Away
Endangered am I
disappearing fading
from the Florida coast
the very things we come here for
and love the most
unique treasures
of sand and sea
camping, desperately inhaling
what soon may cease to be
waking up
along the smooth gulf shore
accessible to everyone
moments in our hearts forevermore
chipped away
by well intentioned
stop
before we are left
with treasures
that are only mentioned
in the history of the past
what image will we cast
