Story behind the song
I really don't remember why or how I wrote this. I remember tuning my guitar to D tuning where you drop 4 of the strings a full step or two down, and I started strumming this pattern. Then, I just started singing. I recorded a rough run through, with no structure, and that was enough to motivate me to go outside onto my porch, and hammer out some lyrics. What you hear is pretty much word for word what I wrote that day, with some of the verses moved around. Larry Grimes - Acoustic Guitar(s), Bass Guitar, Harmonica, Vocals Ryan Goeth - Drums and Percussion
Lyrics
Get on the front porch, and sing me a song, Get on the front porch, and sing me a song, Get on the front porch, where you belong. Come on woman, give me a sign, I know, I know, I know, I ain’t your type, But I, need to feel your rejection, sometimes. We all live…we all die. Please forgive me…for telling you lies. We all need to feel love, we all need more time. I know I need to be loved, I know I need more time. Come on Grandpa, and tell me your lies, Get on the front porch, and feed me your lies, It’s been so long, since I seen you, tell me why. Sit down, have a seat…and sing me your soul, Sit down, have a seat…and sing me your soul, Come on into the fire, and get out of the cold. We all live…and we all die. Please forgive me…for telling you lies. We all need to feel love, we all need more time. I know I need to get home, I know I need more time. Come on people, leave me alone, I need silence, I said I need some home, Been livin’, been livin’ way too long. Get on the front porch, and sing me a song, Get on the front porch, and sing me a song, Get on the front porch, where you belong.
