is an annual songwriting challenge that dares us to write 14 songs during the shortest month of the year. This is my first year attempting this challenge. I'm posting my output for this month here for posterity's sake. After the challenge is over, I hope to return to these songs and polish them up for later release, but it's possible someone might like to see them in their original form. As such, they are all a bit rougher than I usually leave a song before releasing it, though some are in nearly-ready-to-go form.

Story behind the song
Chronic pain can be hard to bear.
Lyrics
I look at her, the tears run down her face It's a picture I can't erase I wish I could take away her pain But every day it's there again I can always see it in her eyes When another hope inside her dies Every day another indignity How I wish that she could be free Another call, another doctor with no clue It's hard to know just what to do I keep telling her that we'll prevail But she believes she'll fail Her spirit flags and she closes her eyes Inside another part of her dies There's only pain as far as she can see How I wish that she could be free I look at her, the tears run down her face It's a fate I can't seem to erase How I wish her pain would be gone But it's gone on so long So long
