This Soundclick page is used for posting rough mixes, outtakes and other projects un-related to my current band, Artists of War. I have played guitar since I was 14 years-old and have gone through a slew of influences. The most predominant has been Black Sabbath. My current fetish has been progressive metal ala Tool and Mastodon. Some might call this "art metal," and I would agree with that moniker as well. I consider what I do to be more akin to art than performance music. During my third year of college, I decided to officially release my work as a physical CD. "Artists of War" was the result of this. The album was released on March 25 via Tricalibur Records through CDBaby. You can visit my website, , for the most recent band news. The CD is available from , direct from me via the band website, or search for it in iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers.

Story behind the song
Plots my progression from traditional doom and stoner to thrashier sludge with proggressive tendencies ala High On Fire, Mastodon, and Dethklok. Been experimenting more with growled, Death Metal style vocals. Lyrics are based on a short essay I wrote called "Deep In The Black." It Picks up the story where "The Drone Machine" left off; with the main protagonists being some of the few remnants of the Drone Machine's planetary devastation. At the start of the song, the all powerful alien rulers of the galaxy arrive to reclaim the machine into the hull of their sun-like spacecraft, the Lotus. Next, mystical aurora encompasses the planet, erasing all remaining life. The two survivor's consciousnesses leave their body to join with the Lotus where the Alien gods true motives are revealed: They seek to create the perfect species based on the collective genes of every organism in the galaxy. Using the bodies of the survivors as blank canvases, a new species is created who, with the knowledge and wisdom of the whole galaxy imbued, will someday rise to overtake the Alien gods as The New Gods of The Galaxy.
Lyrics
The New Gods of the Galaxy By Brad Olsen Rising – absorbing - They harvest the galaxy Behind great walls of – ancient technology Left us – the future - Survived at greater risk Rethinking faith now – we worshiped an obelisk Dawn! – Purged - Life ‘O cosmic one Enter – The – Atmos – phere Go mammoth one Hate - Kill - Annihilate Take their lives away Ripping our souls out – we join with the mothership Resistance surging - Forget that we wanted this They birth – new gods – replacing species Out of our bodies – creating divinity Dawn! – Purged - Life ‘O cosmic one Enter – The – Atmos – phere A billion eyes looking of races collective I now despise this pale white Earth “Becoming plasma, at high speed, they enter the living sun. Flying towards it, absorbed in its shell. Corona exposes, the cycle has begun.” Lasting testament – to a dead breed Religion honed – we have joined the seed “Surrounding aurora encases this planet Erasing all those who were left No dirt, no plants, no lifeforms existent. Silver encases their bodies. Hair, sex, and race devoid. Internal workings revealed. Mechanical perfection – materialized The blue sun releases two points of light.” Reorganizing tissue with divine precision By the visiting gods, consciousness is given Evolved, honed, of helium and fission Messiah, incarnate, are grown Passing the eons – on a globe near a distant star Two tall, pale beings – stand with extended arms Wiser and stronger – with knowledge of all species They are the new – Gods of The Galaxy
