My band is "me" with more than a little help from my lyricist, Tony Shears, on the songwriting front. Our songs might not be typical of today's market but neither are they antiquated, hence the Adult Contemporary title. This particular album "Remnants Of A Cavernous Boot" is a reference to our seventies band "Cavernous Boot" which consisted of Tony and myself along with the world's best guitarist Dave Draper and our seriously deranged drummer Steve Allen who tried vainly to keep us in line with his beat. We mainly played the North London pubs and clubs at the time and had as much work as we wanted, so we couldn't have been that bad. Most tracks on this album are new songs that we wrote last year, some are melody written for lyric, some are lyric put to a melody and a couple are re-writes of our original songs being performed 40 years ago. It's a very mixed bag which I hope you'll find as enjoyable to listen to as it was to record.

Story behind the song
An interesting song that was originally inspired by efforts to introduce a dog to a household containing an elderly cat. (It's true!) All attempts at friendship by the dog were rejected but you could sense a resisted temptation on the part of the cat, to play. Quantum leap to aging humans with a fading and intermittent ability to recall lost opportunities and here is "Miss Barnes"
Lyrics
Won't you join us now Miss Barnes, for visitors today Please don't stay here in your room and I know you always say That it can never be, you have nobody to see It could be despite your constant fears, and although its been so many years Just imagine once again It would feel so good Miss Barnes, if he held you in his arms, today So you changed your mind Miss Barnes, you're looking very smart And this gentleman has claimed long ago he broke your heart Can you not recall? Though he's not so young or tall He remembers how you loved to dance, he regrets he didn't take his chance Now perhaps he'll try again Do you think that now Miss Barnes, he could hold you in his arms, today If you say then he can stay, for just a day or two Hea019ll remind and help you find, while being kind and true Maybe today you shall, but more likely today you sha'n't Oh please maybe today you can, but the truth it is that you can't You are safe again Miss Barnes, your visitor has gone He's apologised and said that he'd left it far too long He has only months not years, oh no do I see your tears So you really thought Miss Barnes, you would hold him in your arms, today
