A plaintive melody starting with pianos but broadening out with an up-tempo middle section. The lyric was inspired by the actual discovery of a disused log flume in a Norwegian forest.

My band is "me" with more than a little help from my lyricist, Tony Shears, on the songwriting front. Our songs might not be typical of today's market but neither are they antiquated, hence the Adult Contemporary title. This particular album "Remnants Of A Cavernous Boot" is a reference to our seventies band "Cavernous Boot" which consisted of Tony and myself along with the world's best guitarist Dave Draper and our seriously deranged drummer Steve Allen who tried vainly to keep us in line with his beat. We mainly played the North London pubs and clubs at the time and had as much work as we wanted, so we couldn't have been that bad. Most tracks on this album are new songs that we wrote last year, some are melody written for lyric, some are lyric put to a melody and a couple are re-writes of our original songs being performed 40 years ago. It's a very mixed bag which I hope you'll find as enjoyable to listen to as it was to record.

Story behind the song
There are very many disused log flumes in Norway and from the moment I first saw the one that is in the forest quite close to where I live, I really did get a sense of personality from the thing. The original lyric was very long and contained more analogies that with hindsight were overly pretentious. This final edition is shorter, simpler and as a result, far better.
Lyrics
I wandered in the forest and I found you Inanimate yet straightaway I knew Though built of wood and steel You have a heart I feel inside you A sign was there to tell your story For twenty years you carried out your task But then more modern ways Did end your working days at last Oh, once mighty log run, stood so strong amid your peers Now they simply must, watch you turn to rust, for years Oh, to resurrect you, bring new meaning to your name It would be so good, to change that rotting wood, for gain What about as a wonderful ride, through the trees in a big water slide The kids would, have such fun, they'd all love, the log run But the problem apparent to me, getting passed by the powers that be They'd not see, so much fun, they'd all hate, the log run The costs would, be too dear Yes, to resurrect you, bring new meaning to your name It would be so good, to change that rotting wood, for gain Oh, once mighty log run, you carried brothers to the sea And you really care, what they thought of you, I see
