Reggie Miles... Songwriter, Singer, Storyteller, Slide Guitarist and Sawplayer Turns trash into musical treasure, his own homemade Nobro resophonic guitars, constructed from repurposed junk culled from garage sales, swap meets, thrift stores... Earthy vocals, Delta style bottleneck slidin' and the rhythmic moans of harmonica combine, while foot stompin' abounds, to create an Acoustic Roots Blues sound as authentic as you'll hear north of the Mason Dixon Line. An aficionado of storytelling, tall tales are intricately woven effortlessly into the fabric of music and songs A Folk/Blues fingerpicker of whimsical found and self-penned songs A virtuoso in the musical folk art of bowed hand saw melodies. An award winning songwriter, recording and performance artist who has gained multinational media attention via recent compositions like, "Wall Street Bailout Blues". Featured in a half dozen documentary film and video projects, on the recordings of more than a dozen Northwest artists, in addition to 21 self produced recordings since 1995. What others are saying about Reggie Miles... "Channeled Bukka White, Furry Lewis, Robert Johnson, Ken Kesey, and Salvadore Dali." (Brian G) "Traditional bluesie - brilliant... A mixture of Bluesey, jazzy, juggy, eclectic stuff... Solid" (Rick Fielding) "Shel Silverstein meets Leonard Cohen" (Anon) "Country blues with a novelty twist....a down home gravely voice and a driving slide guitar." (Chris Lunn, Victory Music Review) "I've been to LA. I've been to New York. I've been to San Francisco, Chicago, Memphis, Kansas City and New Orleans and I have never heard anybody like you!" (Anon) "Tom Waits meets Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Great music!" (Chris) "Reggie Miles in my humble opinion is great! It just does not get any better than this. What a talent! Oh, and by the way, I love the sound of that 'resonator guitar' he uses!" (Ron Ryan, Ghost writer for The Dave Clark Five) "One part Sonny Terry, one part Tiny Tim, three parts Mister T" (Amos Jessup) "Extremely entertaining and downright fun! Wonderfully wacky... Reggie Miles has succeeded in capturing the vaudevillian essence of depression era blues. Amazingly eerie, bizarre, interpretations featuring Reggie playing a saw." (Diane Wells)

Story behind the song
In the last three decades of offering my musical entertainment on the streets of the western half of the US, I've witnessed some incredible moments. Things can get pretty rough at street level, but I've come to realize that the pendulum always swings back in the opposite direction. Understanding this inevitable pattern has helped me to maintain a sense of optimism during the lean times in the hope of better days to come. We all have the capacity to give. We can create a brighter tomorrow via our ability to give to one another. We can change lives via the spirit of giving. This song was written to encourage that giving spirit in each of us.
Lyrics
Shelter From The Rain by Reggie Miles NOBRO RECORDS NR-016 © 2008 All rights reserved He was just another stray, Who wandered by one day, Looking hungry, mistreated, far from home. With hair all gray and shaggy, And a coat, so soiled and tattered, He was a homeless broken beggar left to roam. He was askin? for a handout. With trembling hands and desperate eyes, Said he just needed a little something to ease the pain, I didn?t have much that I could spare. But I shared what I had with that stranger there, Because, every now and then, we all need shelter from the rain. Shelter from the rain, we all need, shelter from the rain. When troubles shower down upon ya, and you?re bending from the strain. The storms of life will pass in time, and the sun will shine again, But until then we all need, we all need shelter from the rain. There?s a lesson here to learn. How the tides of life can turn, And leave you lost, without a prayer of finding hope. We all rush headlong through our lives, To get ahead or just survive, Doing what we can and to try ?n? cope. Only the bravest take the time, To help those who fall behind, To lead them back and help them find the way. If we all pitch in and do our part, To lend a helping hand with an eager heart, Every tomorrow could be a brighter day. Shelter from the rain, shelter from the rain, Extend your hand in kindness and you won?t do so in vain. When you offer help to others to ease their sadness and their pain, You can mend a broken life, offer shelter from the rain. Shelter from the rain, we all need, shelter from the rain, When troubles shower down upon you, and you?re bending from the strain. The storms of life will pass in time, and the sun will shine again, But until then we all need, we all need shelter from the rain. Yes, until then we all need, we all need shelter from the rain.
