Story behind the song
This version of Contradiction is the "radio edit" that still ended up being 6min57sec. The normal version of the song usually was about 10min sometimes longer. This version ends after the solo fades out while the normal version that we recorded later fades back in with another 3 or 4 minutes of soloing. This recording captures the energy of the song with vocals, while the other recording captures the song in its entirety without the vocals and as much energy.
Lyrics
Lyrics: [by Jay Melder] What do you say when all the lights fade away? Would everyone stay, too scared and lonely to return to their days? It could have gone on for hours But surely for you the sweet taste had already gone sour Yeah you were never alone, ... thinking you were out on your own But you never left home [Chorus] Don't it make you wanna run? Run away yeah I fell from the sky with the force of a thousand lies Barely survived and I was just wondering what I'm doing alive But I had the courage to fall Unlike so many who feel tied to the wall And I was the last to love And somehow your pain and pity was never enough But I took what I could There in the closet while in the bedroom you stood Oh watching me, watching you watch me Baby who do you see, baby what do you see [Chorus] Don't it make you wanna run? Run away oh Don't it make you wanna run? You better run Yeah the monster's after you You better run better run And on the way home, I saw you driving alone Yeah, you were singing along Blasting and blaring to the radio's song It was a beautiful sight America shining off your red tail light Cause in that miracle mile... Then I knew I had lost But somehow that moment had outweighed all the cost And then the light turned red now Who was behind you as you turned your head The moment was dead Oh, you say I'm a contradiction This world is a contradiction And I'm just trying to fit in I'm just trying to fit in
