Story behind the song
A song I wrote about hockey in my hometown of Stanstead Quebec, Canada. This was in support of Stanstead's participation in CBC and Kraft's '' Hockeyville '' contest to which the winning town gets a grand prize of $100,000 to help rebuild a much needed hockey arena. Please vote by entering your hockey story along with a pic and help Stanstead win ! Go to : www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hockeyville/community/852/en
Lyrics
Hockeytown My town is a hockey town It brings folks together from miles around From our father's father it's been handed down This circle of life that goes round and round and round My hometown Everyday we'd meet at the outdoor rink Only time we'd stop was to take a drink Kids would shout : '' He shoots he scores '' Jerseys with the number nine like Maurice '' Rocket '' Richard My town is a hockey town So many others that can be found From coast to coast we share a same common ground And hockey mothers cheering us on so proud It's my hometown Saturday mornings waking up at dawn So excited to get my skates on Meeting all my friends in the dressing room Jumpin' on the ice and laughing like a loon Time are tougher than they used to be Worrying won't help the economy Everyone pulls together in a small town Our heads held high together we can turn ot around My town is a hockey town It brings folks together from miles around From our father's father it's been handed down This circle of life that goes round and round and round It's a hockeytown Words & Music : Michel Goudreau ©Copyright 2010 by Michel Goudreau, SOCAN
